A Câmara Municipal de Piracicaba aprovou em regime de urgência, durante a 34ª Reunião Ordinária realizada nesta quinta-feira (15), o requerimento nº 535/2023, apresentado pelo vereador Laércio Trevisan Jr. (PL), que questiona a Prefeitura sobre as medidas adotadas para prevenir a disseminação da febre maculosa na cidade.

Durante as declarações de voto sobre a proposição, vários vereadores relataram terem sido abordados por cidadãos preocupados com a doença, devido à grande quantidade de capivaras presentes na área urbana de Piracicaba. Esses animais são hospedeiros do carrapato estrela, transmissor da febre maculosa. Recentemente, um surto dessa doença foi registrado em Campinas, resultando na morte de quatro pessoas que participaram de um evento no final de maio.

Ao expressar seu voto, o autor do requerimento apresentou um vídeo do Parque da Rua do Porto, mostrando diversos grupos de capivaras. Segundo Trevisan Jr., estima-se que haja cerca de 1,5 mil capivaras circulando na área urbana da cidade. Ele ressaltou que o local chegou a ser fechado por alguns meses devido à infestação de carrapatos. O vereador afirmou: “O poder público deve tomar providências e firmar convênios com o Ibama. É necessário mapear as áreas de risco, implementar sinalizações e campanhas. A Prefeitura precisa estabelecer um programa de manejo desses animais em seu habitat natural”.

O presidente da Casa, Wagner de Oliveira, conhecido como Wagnão (Cidadania), demonstrou preocupação com a presença de crianças no Centro Infantil de Educação no Trânsito, que está localizado no parque, e cogitou solicitar a suspensão das atividades no local. A vereadora Sílvia Morales (PV), do Mandato Coletivo A Cidade é Sua, também apoiou o requerimento, uma vez que apresentou um documento com o mesmo conteúdo.

O vereador Gilmar Rotta (PP) também expressou seu voto e mencionou outros locais da cidade onde há presença de capivaras, como a avenida Cruzeiro do Sul e a Esalq. Ele recebeu um vídeo de moradores do bairro IAA que mostra a presença desses animais em um condomínio fechado e até mesmo dentro de escolas do bairro. Rotta enfatizou: “Cada fêmea pode gerar cinco filhotes a cada cinco meses, portanto, é um animal que se reproduz muito rapidamente”. O líder do governo, vereador Josef Borges (Solidariedade), afirmou que apenas o Ibama pode fazer o manejo das capivaras.

“A falta de medidas adequadas pode resultar em casos fatais”, alertou a vereadora Rai de Almeida (PT). Ela acrescentou: “Embora o Ibama possa ter a responsabilidade, o governo municipal pode buscar as informações necessárias e adotar as medidas adequadas”. A vereadora Ana Pavão (PL) informou que conversou com o secretário de Meio Ambiente, Alex Salvaia, que mencionou a realização de uma ação na Rua do Porto para transferir

as capivaras para o Rio Piracicaba e desinfetar o local. Ela ressaltou a importância de ter cuidado e orientar a população, sem deixá-la desesperada.

O vereador Paulo Camolesi (PDT) destacou outros espaços frequentados por capivaras, como o Bosque da Água Branca. Por sua vez, o vereador Pedro Kawai (PSDB) avaliou que a Prefeitura deve realizar uma força-tarefa e fiscalizar as chácaras que promovem festas.
